SunPower’s 170 Watt flexible solar panel is designed for large off-grid power systems. This panel uses a high working voltage around 30 Volts DC to deliver the highest power output and charging capacity in its product class. SunPower panels are constructed with top-grade, light-weight polymer materials, allowing for easy transport and flexing up to 30 degrees. They are constructed from a durable ETFE laminate that may have small creases, scratches, and indentations on the panel’s surface from manufacturing. Cosmetic imperfections are normal in new panels and do not affect performance in any way. This panel must be used with a solar controller to recharge batteries. In addition, a MPPT type controller is required to use all of its available power. This SunPower panel is rated to provide 170 Watts in a standardized test, but real world performance will vary. Your panel’s geographic location, orientation, and time of day will determine its power output. This panel has an open circuit voltage of about 35 Volts and a working voltage around 30 Volts.
